This past week was a rough one for Jaxon. I am glad it is over and hope we never go through another week like that again. Let me explain each day and the chaos that was had at the Cingolani Household...
Sunday: A normal Sunday during the day. We got through eating dinner and decided to lay out on a blanket in the backyard and let Jaxon play til it was time to get ready for bed. As we are laying there I said to Justin..."You know, one of these days he is going to fall face first into that cement wall." Justin says "Don't say that, you are going to jinx us."
Monday: A normal Monday. If you remember it was hot that day so I let Jaxon run through the sprinkler in the afternoon. My mom stopped by on her way home from work and we were sitting on the cement wall chatting and I kid you not, Jaxon is running full boar, trips over his beach towel and lands cheek first into the edge of the cement wall. It was the kind of hit that you could hear. So I pick him up to check for any cuts, luckily none, but a lot of bruising and swelling.
Wednesday: We have every Wednesday off from the storage units so we usually run errands. Jaxon acted fine all day long. Ate well, drank well, ran everywhere. We get home around 5:00 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m. he tells me his belly hurts and that he is going to throw up. So I sit with him on the couch trying to see what is going on, and I notice he feels warm. It was another hot day so I thought maybe it could be that. My mother's intuition kept nagging at me so I took his temp and it was at 101.5 degrees. So I gave him a soda bath and some Motrin and tried to get him to eat and drink something. At this point I am concerned about what type of bug he has and yes the Swine Flu did cross my mind. I finally get him settled down and in bed around 10:00p.m. He sleeps all night, so I think we are good to go...
Thursday: I get him up and he throws up. Not a good way to start the day. I automatically think it is going to be one of those days. So we had a quiet morning and watched umpteen episodes of Dora the Explorer and by the afternoon he wanted to eat everything in sight. However this is where the runny nose, sneezing and yucky eyes come into play. So now we start his Allergy medicine. (P.S. Not to mention the poor kid still has a blackish eye and it is sore.)
Friday: The sneezing and runny nose seem better, now enter hacking dry cough. I swear I can't win. He is coughing and coughing all day long. And of course you can't give them anything for it. So I break out the humidifier and keep him full of liquids to keep his throat wet. And just to spare you more of your reading time, it is now Monday and the coughing is worse and sounds like something is breaking up in there. The poor kid can't sleep and has these coughing attacks throughout the day.
I swear...it has been the longest week of my life!! My poor little man has been through World War 3 and back. However his eye is looking a lot better, and I am hoping the cough will clear up in a few days. Thanks for reading my extra long post and cross your fingers that we don't have another week like this for a long time!
Sorry the pictures are kind of blurry. These were taken a day or two after it happened. We have watched it all week change from black, to purple, to green and today it is almost gone. I was a little nervous to take him out anywhere because people probably think I socked him and gave him this black eye. Poor kid!
Tuesday: Another regular day. We went out to my parent's house around 6:00 p.m. We were watching 'Papa' fix Grandma's planter, Jaxon was maybe 10 feet from me watching a chicken dig in the dirt. Again I kid you not, I took my eyes off of him for one second and the next thing I hear is my mom saying "Amanda grab him!!" I look and I see Jaxon head first into their barrell fountain. I about died!! I pull him out and he starts coughing and crying. He wasn't hurt, and I think it scared him more than anything. I think what happened is again he was running (my kid doesn't walk anywhere!) and couldn't stop himself in time and fell into the fountain. So then he was soaked from his head to his knees, that's how far he went in. UGH!! If by now I don't feel like the crappiest mom, I don't know. My poor kid...but wait there is more!

4 Thoughts:
Poor guy! He is a tough little guy, he will bounce back sooner than you might want!!
Oh, Jaxon! What a rough week! Don't worry about the black eye or the fountain episode...these things happen and anyone who's a mom (especially a mom of boys!) understands. The sickness, though, just plain stinks! I hope he gets feeling better soon so that you both can get some sleep and get back to normal life! :( Good luck!
Sad! I hope he is doing better now!
Poor lil buddy! I am so glad that Lola can't walk yet, I am not excited for all the bumps and bruises. I hope he gets well soon :) You are a great mom, he is lucky to have you!
