Valentine's

So Justin & I are pretty 'anti-Valentine's day' people. We might get each other a card but that is about it. I just think it is kind of a lame holiday, but whatever. Needless to say we didn't do much that day. I went and got my hair done and went grocery shopping that morning. It was sooo funny to see all the guys at the grocery store buying flowers and cards!! And that was at 7:00 a.m.! Then we just lounged all day. Watched tv in our comfy clothes and that was about it. However, earlier in the week, Jaxon & I made heart shaped sugar cookies. He is really into watching me cook, so this was a lot of fun for him. The best part was he would get so excited to cut them out with the cookie cutter, he would get his fingers in the way. So our heart shaped cookies all had finger prints in the middle of them! It was fun to watch him make them, and then of course the best part was eating them! Doing a 'cheese' for the camera!
He liked getting his hands in the flour, but then he would lick it off! GROSS!!

The finished product!

Crazy Jaxon Part 2

Sorry, but it is another Jaxon post! I know that is all I post about anymore, but hey, the kid is the center of my world, so deal with it! I thought this was so funny, (I know no one else might, but I am the mom, so of course I thought it was hilarious!). This is what I saw one morning while he was watching cartoons. He pulled his Car's chair in front of the tv and was eating his toast and drinking his juice while watching cartoons. Notice the first picture with his feet propped up on the entertainment center? It cracked me up to think that he would think of something like this!

Lil' Schwan Man In Training!

Here he is, the next generation of Schwan's delivery men! Jaxon is really into stickers lately, and obviously by the picture it doesn't matter what kind they are! He found Justin's stash of Schwan's stickers in a kitchen drawer and decided to wear them all day, but only on this cheek. He wore them all through nap time, play time, he even wore them to his little friend's house! He was really upset with me that night when I made him take them off for bath time. But, not to worry, there were more on that same cheek the very next morning! What a kid!!

Jaxon's List

So when the new year came around, I decided that one of my new years resolutions was going to be to have more patients with my boys, mainly Jaxon. I feel like he is a pretty good kid, a typical 2 year old BOY. (for anyone who has boys, you know what I mean by boy!!) He is very laid back and just kind of rolls with the punches, but for the last few weeks I feel like I am constantly losing my patients with him and needing to put myself in 'mommy time out'. It could be that we can't go play outside yet, so we can't get our wiggles out. It could also be that because of Justin's work schedule, it is mainly me and Jaxon together 24/7, and we might be getting on each others nerves. Never the less, I am trudging forward trying my best every day to be more patient.

So, on my friends blog, she copied my list of why I love my husband (obviously not my list exactly...just the idea), then I noticed she did a list about her daughter. So I decided to do the same thing about Jaxon. Sometimes I have to remind myself the little things I love about Jaxon. Here goes:

1. He makes me laugh everyday.
2. He reminds me what life is really about.
3. I love experiencing 'firsts' with him.
4. He is one of my best friends.
5. I love that he always wants to be with me, even if he knows I am mad at him. (talk about unconditional love.)
6. He is sooo laid back.
7. Some of the things he says crack me up. (for example he now calls Justin 'daddydad' HILARIOUS!!)
8. I love that he loves to wrestle and do boy things, but then loves to snuggle with his mom.
9. He is so smart and such a fast learner.
10. I love that he is such a morning person, and I am not. It definitely starts my day out right!

Some Cute Photos

This is the picture we sent in to Live Regis & Kelly's Beautiful Baby Search. I think he is the most beautiful, but what parent doesn't right?
This is his new thing. Yeah, probably not a good idea, but I had to catch a photo of it. Where do they come up with these ideas?

Crazy Jaxon

Today I decided to tackle the closet in Jaxon's playroom. It wasn't dirty, just needed some organizing. So I pulled everything out and got started. I had some toys in there that Jaxon used to play with when he was smaller, but now has no interest in, and they will have to wait until another baby comes along. So I pile them all in the living room and of course my little shadow, a.k.a. Jaxon was right there with me, and then I turn around and where was he? That's right, playing with the baby toys in the living room! He wouldn't leave them alone all afternoon. He didn't care that I told him they were baby toys, he wanted to play with those and the heck with the rest of the toys. So I had to grab the camera for a little photo of him crawling through the underwater tunnel! He is such a funny kid!
Also in Jaxon news this weekend we had a bit of a tragedy. He has had a bit of a cold for like the last 2 weeks and just can't seem to shake it. So we decided to run a humidifier in his room Saturday night. So I get him all bathed, put in his pj's (mind you the humidifier is running), and am putting the lotion and powder on his dresser, thinking that he is grabbing Pooh bear, and all of a sudden I hear this loud scream. Yep, he touched the hot steam coming out of the humidifier! So I am running it under cold water, trying to console him, feeling like such a negligent mom, trying to calm him and Justin down, also trying to see if it is red or not. I take him back in the room to lay him down and he tells me he wants the humidifier out of his room. So I get him all layed down and snuggled in his bed, come downstairs and he starts screaming again. I go up get him to sleep and think nothing of it. Then the next afternoon when he gets up from his nap I notice something on his finger. Yeah, the blister he had, (which I didn't notice all day) had popped and the skin was hanging on by a thread. So we pulled it off ( not sure if that is the right thing to do or not), and have been keeping cream and a band aid on it since. YIKES!! First off, I shouldn't have had the stupid thing running til he was in bed, secondly I should have paid more attention to my sons hand while running it under water and thirdly, why didn't I notice the blister the next morning?! I tell you, I have felt like crap ever since it happened! Then to top it all off, sometimes through out the day he will remind me it is there and that it hurts. I think he is trying to rub it in that I slacked off and he burnt his finger because of it!!

Bread Class

On Saturday, me and two other friends went to a bread making class offered by Pantry Secrets. This was the best class ever and I would recomend it to everyone!! We learned how to make bread from start to finish in only an hour. That's right 60 minutes!! I couldn't believe it either, cause the last time I made bread it took all stinking day and it came out hard as a rock!
This lady and her daughter teach these classes out of their home in Pleasant Grove. It was a 2 hour class and costed me $20.00. I am telling you though, it was well worth the money. Not only were they funny, but they taught us how to use our pantrys more efficiently, and how to use our food storage. She figured it out and when she makes a loaf of bread, it only costs her .12 cents. I have never, and probably never will, see bread that cheap! Not to mention it is home made so it tastes better and you know exactly what went in to it, so there are no hidden ingredients!
In the 2 hour time we made a loaf of bread, a pizza, cinnamon swirls and a cream cheese braid. It all tasted amazing!! On Sunday I made some of my own and it turned out sooo good. I think it will take some time to practice and really get it down, but it tasted good and wasn't hard as a rock! Justin was even impressed and said that it tasted good, and he is one of my toughest critics! So now along with coupon clipping, I am adding making bread to my list of things to do! I think I may be becoming quite the 'Suzy Homemaker'!

My Shopping Trip

Ok, so here are the details of my grocery shopping trip. My first stop was Albertson's. They had a really good ad this week, and some awesome in store coupons. I bought their boneless, skinless chicken breasts that were on ad for $1.77/lb. (This is something I like to have on hand in my freezer.) They also had a frozen pizza on special that if you bought one, you got a second one and 2 2 liter bottles of Dr. Pepper free. They had some Orville Redenbacher pop corn on that if you bought one box, you got 3 free. It worked out to only be .75 cents per box!! They also had some cereal on and I had a coupon to use on top of it, and when you bought the cereal, you get a gallon of milk free on your next trip, although my grandma (the real coupon queen!) told me today that if you ask, they will let you get your milk right then. Anyway, my coupons totaled $55.21 and I only paid $59.72. Not bad to walk out of the store having only paid $59 and having over $100 worth of grocerys in your car!
Then my next trip was to Smith's. Their deal this week was they had a bunch of items and if you bought 10 of them, they took $5.00 off at the register. So really you are only paying $5.00 plus the tax. I bought some pepsi, Keebler cookies, goldfish, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and a few other things. I did the 10 items twice, so I got 20 items for $38.00; and that includes a .5 cent savings on my next gasoline fill up. The receipt says that I saved $10.00 in coupon savings, $19.18 in Fresh Value savings, so my total was 44%. Not as great as Albertson's but hey, saving some money is better than none at all right?
The nice part about this shopping trip is that these groceries will last us 2 weeks, until Justin gets paid again. I may have to grab a gallon of milk, but that is about it.
Stay tuned for more of my grocery shopping adventures!! (I know you are all on the edge of your seat waiting for it!)
