New Changes...Again

I am pretty much a believer that our house is never meant to have a dull moment. There is always something going on and last week was no exception. Justin took the week off of work for one of his paid weeks off, and in the middle of his birthday and studying for his life insurance test, was offered a new job, and took it. When Justin and I first met he was working for Alcoa, an aluminum extrusion company, in Spanish Fork. Good benefits, great pay, and the hours weren't too bad. Granted they work one month of days and one month of graves, but it was ok for a while. Well, fast forward to us having Jaxon and I not being able to handle being home alone at night by myself. So he quit. We thought we were making the right decision, but apparently our crystal ball was dirty cause it didn't quite work out like we thought it would. He started working for Sunroc, which was great cause he was home more, but yeah...remember he got laid off? Bad move. So he then takes the job at Schwans, which when you are unemployed you will take just about anything for work, and has worked his tail off for the past 13 months. Seriously putting in 14 hours a day, which equals 75 hours a week, and on a salary wage, not hourly, for that matter. To sum it up, the job at Schwans has taken a toll on our marriage, family life, and him being able to be around to be a dad.
So, fast forward to last week. We find out that Alcoa, now called SAPA, is hiring pronto and so we jump on it. He interviews and gets the job all in one day!! Such a great thing!! We are really excited about this change because it means he will only be working 4 12 hour shifts Monday thru Thursday, it's an hourly wage which means 8 hours of overtime pay a week, and as soon as he is given a full time position he gets back his benefits and paid vacation time. So now we are just praying and hoping that he can get a full time position soon, because if any of you all have forgotten, we have a baby coming in 9 weeks and 2 days, if not sooner, and health insurance is a bonus when it comes to these events. We plan on carrying a Cobra policy on just myself until then, which is spendy but well worth it for him getting out of Schwans. I am not looking forward to the graveyard shifts, but I do better now being alone at night than I did before, so I am trying to have a positive attitude about that part. He is finishing out this week at Schwans and will start with SAPA next Monday night, and we couldn't be more excited!!
